Russell King (Rusty), of Sunderland, Maryland, born on August 23, 1964, in Cheverly, Maryland, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, in Prince Frederick, Maryland surrounded by his family. Russell was a devoted spouse to Christine King, with whom they shared 35 years of marriage. He was predeceased by his parents, Cecilia Leone-King and Richard "Junebug" King. He was a loving parent to three children, Russell King II (Jessica), Brooklyn Hayden (Matt), and Brayclyn King (Schylur). Their legacy continues through their cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Kinsley, Colsen, Russell III, and Delilah who is coming soon. Russell is also survived by his siblings, Richard King (Maddie), Renne Powers (Kenny), Robert King (Jen), Rodney King, Ronnie King (Susan), and Randy King.
Anyone who knew Rusty, knew his work ethic and desire to provide. It started with working on his family's farm, with his father, raising and growing tobacco. In high school, Rusty was a carrier for the Washington Post Newspaper for his father who was the distributor. After his dad retired, Rusty took over the business and became the distributor. He worked for the Washington Post for 32 years. While still working for the Washington Post Newspaper, he was also working with Morgan Russell where he learned operating machinery and heavy equipment. He worked there for five years before starting with the Town of Chesapeake Beach as Director of Public Works. Rusty worked with the town for 10 years before starting his own business, RK Automotive. While still working his automotive business, he started to help his cousin, Kevin, with Hot Tubs Inc. He traveled states, moving hot tubs, and helping deliver them. He did this for 16 years, including his very last days. Rusty never turned down a good, hard day's work. In 2023, Rusty started another endeavor when he purchased a dump truck and started King Boyz Trucks, LLC. He obtained a state contract for snow removal, and he was hauling asphalt for Hayden Paving, which is owned by his daughter, Brooklyn and son-in-law, Matt. This was more than just work, but something he enjoyed with his family.
A true jack of all trades, he found joy in helping others—whether it was moving hot tubs, operating equipment, snowplowing, or delivering newspapers. His willingness to lend a hand whenever needed left a lasting impact on those around them. When someone called for his help, he did not question but just showed up. Truly a man full of love and selflessness. Russell’s generosity and dedication to helping others will be remembered by all who knew them. He made an impact on each life he came in contact with. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind.
