Roberta Lene Tedder, 61, of Baltimore, MD passed away in North Beach, MD on March 9, 2017. Roberta was born in Nova Scotia, Canada to the late James and Anne Lajti Gates. She was the child of a naval officer and lived abroad. The family’s travels took them to Maryland where she attended Wheaton High School. Roberta had been employed as a protective service worker with American Eagle Paragon Protective Services. She enjoyed collecting, purchasing and selling jewelry. She summarized her life as follows: “I was given the gift of life, and now I have to give it back. This is hard. But I was a lucky woman, who led a lucky existence, and for this I am grateful. I decided to be joyful about having had a full life, rather than sad about having to die. Amazingly, this outlook worked for me (well, you know, most of the time) My belief system helped me accept what I could not change. At any rate, I am at peace. And on that upbeat note, I take my mortal leave of this rollicking, rolling world-this sun, that moon, that walk down the North Beach boardwalk, that drive through the mountains and meadows, the memory of a child’s hand in mine.” Roberta is survived by her faithful and loving companion, David Morgan; her son, Richard “Chuck” Tedder; daughter, Marianne K. Lance and her husband, Burton “Bil” Lance; brother, Ronald Gates and his wife, Sue; grandchildren, Zoe N. Lance and Isabelle J. Eagle and former husband, Richard C. Tedder, Sr. A reception will follow at Northeast Community Center, 4075 Gordon Stinnett Ave., Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
