Robert “Bob” William Chapple, 70, formerly of Huntingtown, Maryland and retired to Georgetown, Delaware, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2021, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on September 15, 1951 in Washington, DC to the late Earl William, Jr. and Constance Maryella Chapple. Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sherry Chapple; three children, Kristy Smith (Justin), Carly Pumphrey (Steve) and Ben Chapple (Jess); four grandchildren, Camdyn Smith, Maycie Smith, Aubrey Pumphrey, and Sadie Pumphrey; his sister, Linda Smith (John), and many other loved ones. He was looking forward to meeting his much anticipated first grandson (Chapple) who will arrive this month.
Bob began his career as a sales representative for a regional beverage company before becoming a small business owner, focusing in general maintenance, cleaning, and landscaping. Most recently, he worked as the Director of Plant and Transportation at The Calverton School for 21 years, before retiring in 2018.
Bob loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He was a kind and loving husband as well as an amazing father. Bob enjoyed coaching his children’s youth sports teams, going to the beach, watching baseball (particularly the Washington Nationals), camping, and landscaping, all of which he would often combine with another one of his favorites, a cold beer. He was not, however, a fan of geese.
Bob will be fondly remembered for many things, particularly his goofy sense of humor and how much he cherished and cared for his loved ones. He will be forever missed.
