Richard R. Van Dyke, 79, of Huntingtown, MD, went home to be with the Lord on March 24, 2014. He was a patient at the Burnett Calvert Hospice House in Prince Frederick. He was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and had lived in Virginia, Georgia and Florida before his return to Maryland two years ago.
Richard was a veteran who proudly served for 10 years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He owned and operated a bulding company in Maryland and also worked at Walter Reed Medical Hospital in Bethesda, MD as a shop foreman for 10 years. He was a Chaplain who loved the Lord. His studies at the Baltimore School of the Bible, through Christ, helped bring many people to the Lord.
Richard is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kay Van Dyke and 10 children, Margaret, Charles, Dick, Robert, Dale, Barbara, Mary, Ella, Linda and Rachel; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great-grand-grandchildren.
A committal service will follow the funeral at Cheltenham Veteran's Cemetery. After the burial, all are invited to attend a memorial dinner at First Baptist Church of Calvert at Rt. 4 and German Chapel Road in Prince Frederick, MD.
