Mark Alan Wilkerson

Mark Alan Wilkerson, 57, of Ravenel, SC died suddenly on November 13, 2011. He was born on June 24, 1954 to the late Samuel and Marion McMahon Wilkerson and was raised in Riverdale, MD. Mark graduated from Parkdale High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1977 and served on the USS Daniel Boone as a Submariner Petty Officer. He moved to South Carolina and became employed by Steven’s (freight and ocean) Towing in Yonges Island, SC, where he remained until his death.

Mark is survived by his sister, Maria Merkle of Chester, MD; brothers, Steve of Hyattsville, MD, Bob of Riverdale, MD and Bill of Crofton, MD; several nieces and nephews and his adopted family of coworkers and friends in South Carolina.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 10 am until 11:30 am at Raymond-Wood Funeral Home, 10684 Southern Maryland Blvd. (Rt. 4 South), Dunkirk, MD 20754. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 am at the same location. Rev. Ray Wadas will officiate. Interment will follow the service at 1:00 pm at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Rt. 301 South, Cheltenham, MD.
