Kathleen Halstead Doss

Kathleen Halstead Doss, 78, of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland and Laurel, Delaware passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday December 13, 2025. Kathleen grew up in Hyattsville, Maryland where she attended St. Jerome’s Catholic School and Elizabeth Seton. She graduated from Bladensburg Senior High School. Kathleen spent her working career in the federal government. She worked for many agencies, such as the FDA, IRS,  and the Secret Service, among others.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Eileen Halstead; her brothers, Thomas and James Halstead; sister, Rosemary Halstead Weaver; her son, Christopher Dallas Doss; daughter-in-law, Tammy Anne Smith; in-laws, James and Mildred Hill and brother-in-law, Harry Hill. Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Aubrey Dallas Doss; her children, David Eugene (Gene) Smith, Maureen Sackett (Douglas), Dennis Smith, Kathleen Blackwell and Patrick Doss; her sister Eileen Ward (Mark)and Brothers-in-law, James Doss and Paul Hill. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Kathleen was the godmother to John Weaver and Vivien Halstead. She has many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was very genuine in her love for her Catholic faith and her vacation home in Delaware. Above all she loved her family and her cats, Magic, Leelo and Bentley.
