"Captain Jack” Kasmer Walter Denka, 79, of Riverdale, MD, was born Kazimierz Dynka on February 12, 1944 in Alzey, Germany. He Immigrated to the United States on February 14, 1952 through New York. First settling into Philadelphia, PA and then in the Washington DC area where he lived until his death on February 25, 2023 in Calvert County Maryland. Jack was a barber early in life and then an ABC electric motors mechanic. He later started his own business, Ram Pak Services. He eventually settled on a career at Catholic University of America from which he retired.
An avid waterman, he spent most of his time on the Potomac and Anacostia rivers where he and his lifelong friends Ronnie Damron and Pat O’Hara had many adventures. Jack was happy to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. They became a second family to him.
Jack is survived by a daughter, Anita Denka, and two sons, Noel Denka (Beverly), Kasmer Denka II (Mary); fiancee, Betty Gregory; family friend, Darlene Padgett and five grandkids, Sasha, Patience, Kyle, Isabelle, Isaiah, and Kasmer III and two great-grandsons, Joshua and James. He was predeceased by his mother, Anastasia Denka; his wife, Jean Monte Denka and second wife, Mary Ellen Haga.
