Hilda Smith Velasquez

Hilda Smith Velasquez, 81, of Lusby died at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in North Carolina to the late Duncan Monroe and Stella Morton Smith. She had lived in Virginia and Maryland and she and her husband moved to Lusby two years ago. She was employed as an office manager for a HVAC Company and enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, shopping and sewing. She had been a member of the Ft. Washington (Maryland) church choir.

Mrs. Velasquez is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ray; son John Velasquez of Lusby; daughters Deanna (Percy) Jones of LaPlata; Susan (Rick) McKenzie of Lusby and Sheila (Steve) Magoon of Wakefield, MA; brother Everett Smith of Conetoe, NC; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Raymond-Wood Funeral Home from 12 noon to 1pm. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Cheltenham Veteran's Cemetery, Rt. 301 South, Cheltenham, MD. A reception will follow at Topolino, 6320 Old Branch Ave., Camp Springs, MD 20748.
