Harold Anthony "Billy" DeShong, Sr.

Harold “Billy” Anthony DeShong Sr, 71, of Chesapeake Beach, MD passed away peacefully at his home on December 9, 2023 following an aggressive battle with heart failure and cancer. He was born in Prince George's County, MD on July 9, 1952. Billy was known for his giving nature and outgoing personality, he loved to talk to everyone he met and was quite the jokester!

As an avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed playing soccer, basketball, and baseball as well as coaching youth sports over the years. His main career was spent working as a professional driver. He loved attending Christmas craft fairs with his wife, Sherry, and crab feasts with his kids were always a favorite pastime. He was an amazing “Pop” who truly enjoyed countless hours with his granddaughters, they were his pride and joy! Hosting the annual Christmas Eve party with all of their friends was one of his all time favorite events, which will certainly be missed. His friends meant the world to him and he spoke of them as family. His crazy hats always made a statement wherever he went and will remain a favorite memory for many!

Billy leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Sherry Hurd; daughter Candice (Nathan) Wheelock; granddaughters, Mackenzie and Jaidyn Wheelock; and many more loving family and friends.
