Elenita Siozon Obituary

Elenita Siozon passed peacefully on April 6, 2025, surrounded by her family at home. She spent many evenings talking to her relatives and friends around the world, listening to them and passing on years of wisdom to them about life in general. She was very gracious in giving to worthy causes and family around the globe. She looked out for others before herself. Over the last 8.5 years, her little dog Bernie never left her side and was laying on her lap as she passed from this earth.

Elenita is survived by husband Gregory Cate; daughter, Enalynn Ortega; granddaughter, Kristina Foerster; grandson, David Foerster; great-grandsons, Kado and Dakota, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives, all who hope to see her again in heaven. Her granddaughter and later her great-grandsons held a special place in her heart. She adored her Seng 2 beyond words, and video calls gave Juju and his Gigi their own bond.

Elenita was described by her daughter as a woman who had a life full of wonderful memories. She captured many of them in pictures and in mementos that she loved to display. She loved to travel, explore and bring back mementos to be displayed so that she could tell the story behind them when we would visit. Everything displayed in her home had an origin story and she would happily tell you all about it. She was known for her devotion to the Lioness Club and proudly owned a vest with many pins. When living in Sacramento, she became very involved with the Filipino community and made sure her daughter learned and attended folk dances and events to deepen her roots in her culture.

Along with being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she was a long-serving, hard-working federal employee who spent over 20 years working for the U.S Air Force in procurement operations. She started her career at McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA and finished her career as the Deputy Commander/Director of Business operations of the 89th Airlift Wing Procurement Operations at Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, MD. She led the effort to outsource all aircraft maintenance operations for the executive aircraft fleet at Andrews AFB back in 2000 that ended up saving taxpayers over $300 million over a 10-year period. During her time at Andrews AFB, she was known as the "go to" person across the base to get things done. She was sought out by base civil engineers for the toughest and most challenging engineering projects supporting Andrews AFB. Her commitment to the base's mission of supporting Air Force One was second to none.

In addition to her skills as a contract specialist she was recognized by the Air Force with numerous awards for her outstanding leadership ability not only at Andrews AFB, but also at Peterson AFB in Colorado and other Air Force organizations too numerous to list. After leaving Andrews Air Force Base, she held numerous positions with the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Coast Guard prior to her retirement in 2013. Her dedication as a Federal Employee and reassignment because of the 1990s Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) meant that she had to leave her beloved family in California in the late 1990s to move to the East Coast where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Elenita “lived the life she wanted, regardless of anyone’s thoughts or judgements. She lived for her, a woman going after what she desired.” Her light and energy were endless. Her families’ memories of her will live on forever…
