Eleanor Irene Smith, 90, of Crofton, MD, formerly of Upper Marlboro, MD passed away on May 22, 2020. Eleanor was born on June 19, 1929 in Washington, DC to the late Henry Louis and Eleanor Irene Webb Chaney. She married James Francis Smith in 1945. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed babysitting for family and friends, gardening and flowers. She worked on food trucks for charity events. She was best known for her beautiful and delicious cakes, which were the highlight of every gathering! Eleanor was described by her family as very loving and caring. She frequently opened her home to loved ones. Eleanor is survived by her son, Gary Francis (Crystal) Smith of Lothian, MD; daughters, Joyce LeOna (Ray Haas) Smith of Davidsonville, MD; Jacqueline Irene (Chad Garland) Smith of Lothian, MD and Suzanne Marie St. John of Upper Marlboro, MD; and sister, Mabel Ada Parker of Huntingtown, MD. Eleanor leaves an amazing legacy of 30 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James Francis Smith; her son, James Ronald Smith and her brother, Louis Henry Chaney.
