Eleanor Harris

Eleanor Harris, 83 of Prince Frederick, MD passed away on July 26, 2023 in Leonardtown, MD. Eleanor was born on October 13, 1939 in Prince Frederick, MD to the late James Stephney and Iverta Brown. She lived in Calvert County her entire life. She graduated from high school and began a career of caring for others, both as an employee of a nursing center and as a private duty caregiver. Many families benefitted from the kindness of “Sister Harris,” as she frequently helped those in need without charging. She was baptized at Calvary Apostolic Church and was chosen as an Evangelist and she was also a member of Calvert Lighthouse Church.

In addition to her love for others, Eleanor was known for her cooking, especially her ribs, hams and pig’s feet. She was described by her family as a woman who constantly gave of herself and truly enjoyed doing so.

Eleanor is survived by her husband, Albert Lawrence Harris; daughter Charlotte (Amos Gross) Galloway of Prince Frederick; sisters, Marthalene Holland of Sunderland, MD and Virginia (Mark) Mackall of Odenton, MD; two grandchildren, Lonnie (Roxanne) Broome, Jr. and Michelle Gross; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Langston Sewell; and three sisters, Ellamae Sewell, Charlotte Sewell and Alberta Sewell.
