Dean Preston Long

Dean Preston Long, 52, 0f Dunkirk, died in Prince Frederick on January 9, 2013. Dean was born on March 19, 1960 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Harvey and Connie Root Long. He graduated from Wootton High School in Rockville, MD and James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Dean had lived in Calvert County since 1992. He was employed as an IT Director for Safeway Companies at the time of his death.

Dean was a man of many passions: gardening, music, cooking and wine. He loved to entertain friends and family and was always working on something around the house, most notably his famous Christmas decorations. He was known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.  He was a “soccer dad” and the treasurer of his homeowner’s association.

Dean is survived by his parents, Harvey and Connie Long of Rockville, MD; his wife of 23 years, Angela; son Mason and daughter Madison; brother Brad Long and his wife Liz of Darnestown, MD; sister, Jody Kraemer of Gaithersburg, MD; his nieces and nephews and many friends.
