Daniel Wilson, Sr. Obituary

Daniel Edward Wilson Sr., 52, of Dunkirk, MD passed away on January 24, 2021 at Holy Cross Hospital in Washington, DC. Daniel was born at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC on March 19,1968 to Robert Wilson Jr. and the late Rosalie “Rose” Wilson.

He grew up fast as a brother of five siblings, embarking on an entrepreneurial journey before even graduating high school. He drove delivery trucks and invested in Subway franchises before finally finding his career home in real estate investment with his company Wilson Properties, Inc. He married in his early twenties to his first wife Shelly and had two sons, Daniel Jr. and Joseph.

His heart was in the Joys of Family and Nature. He enjoyed canoeing along rivers and walking through the forest. Often he could be found taking time at the end of every day to pause and take in the beauty of the sunset or build fires by starlight. Family was all important to him, and he took great care to preserve the tradition of shared meals around the dinner table.

Daniel embodied fierce love, powerful compassion, and gentle strength that could be felt by all around him. He was a heartbeat for family and friends alike, bringing all those close together before they all went again on their separate ways. He was a hub for loved ones far and wide, as you knew and felt that his home was your home.

From his open heart, his dearest friends and family learned to do their best for those they love.
To be Generous in their blessings.
To fail with Grace.
To succeed with Humility.
To Love Unconditionally, and that doing so is worth it.
To Think Freely, Live Fully, and go against the grain.
To Work Hard, and that doing so for the right reasons is truly virtuous.
To have Courage and dare greatly.
To Persevere through hardship.
To Believe in Oneself and the power of community.
To practice Forgiveness over and over and over again.

Everything he did, he did selflessly, as a sacrifice to his family, the most important thing in his life.

He was a great man who lived a magnificent life as a noble king, despite having passed far too young.

Daniel Sr. is survived by his sons, Daniel Wilson Jr. of Annapolis and Joseph Wilson of St. Leonard; wife, Fabiana Godinho Wilson of Dunkirk; her son and his adopted son, Mattheus Wilson; father, Robert Wilson Jr. of Hancock, MD; sister, Ann (Bob) Babick of Tucson, AZ; four brothers, Robert (Sharon) Wilson, lll of Temple Hills, MD, Frank (Soo) Wilson of Alexandria, VA, Kent (Betty) Wilson of Preston, MD, and Gregory Wilson, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalie “Rose” Wilson.
