Clifford Clark Pumphrey, 79, of Huntingtown, MD passed away in Washington, DC on July 28, 2021. Clifford was born on December 7,1941 in Washington, DC to the late Maurice and Catherine Clark Pumphrey. Following high school, Clifford served in the United States Navy. He married Trudy King, and the couple made their home in Calvert County, MD in 1976.
Clifford had been employed as a telephone installation technician with C&P Telephone Company, which later became Verizon.. Clifford’s hobbies included deer hunting and yard work. He was a history buff and enjoyed reading both history books and biographies. Clifford’s family shared that he loved coffee shops and drinking a cup or two with his friends. He loved walking his dog daily with his wife and stopping at Dunkin’ Donuts to grab coffee and treats on the way home. He always shared his treats with his dog.
Clifford is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Trudy Pumphrey; his two daughters, Christine Houghton of Lusby, MD and Melissa (Ronny) Jetmore of Elizabethton, TN; sister, Carol DeHart of New Smyrna Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Megan Pumphrey, Madison Houghton, and Emersen and Emilia Jetmore; one great-granddaughter, Raven Murphy and his beloved chocolate lab, Brandy. In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Pumphrey.
