Christa Lina (Buchholz) Lavendt

Christa Lina Buchholz Lavendt, 94, of Owings, MD, passed away in Owings on December 3, 2023. Christa was born in Hamburg, Germany on July 10, 1929. She married Carl Lavendt and immigrated to the United States in 1957. Christa had worked in both the Prince George’s and Calvert County Schools as a home teacher. Christa was devoted to her faith and to her church. Her hobbies included sewing and genealogy studies. She loved dancing, especially the polka and the waltz and she genuinely embraced being a homemaker, and caring for her family.

Christa is survived by her son, Carl “Pete” Lavendt; daughter, Marita Lavendt; sister, Vera Buchholz; five grandchildren, Kimberly Marie Harrington, John Owen Turner and his wife, Sara, Kyle Alan Byrd, Kacie Marie Byrd and Jesse Dean Lavendt  and five great-grandchildren, John Michael Harrington, Makynlie Ann Harrington, Jack Everett Turner, Maverick Carl Harrington and Graham Harrison Turner.

Christa was predeceased by her husband, Carl Lavendt; her daughter, Britta Lavendt-Turner; her brother, Gunther Buchholz and twin grandsons, Carl Dean and James Peter Lavendt.
