Catherine Marie (Combs) Clarke

Catherine Marie Clarke, 79, died in Washington, DC on August 10, 2014. She was born in Leonardtown, MD on September 27, 1934. She remained a “hometown girl” her entire life. She grew up in Great Mills and went to elementary school at Little Flower Catholic School. She married George Willard Clarke, Sr. on November 8, 1952. She was a homemaker who enjoyed going to yard sales and the farmer’s market. She loved fried chicken, taking road trips and listening to country music, especially her favorite artist, George Strait. Catherine is survived by sons, George Willard Clarke, Jr. of Hollywood, MD, David Alexander Clarke and his wife, Carolyn of Lexington Park, James Michael “Mike” Clarke and his wife Linda of California, MD, Joseph Wayne Clarke of California, MD and Nicholas Steven Clarke, also of California; daughters, Edith Cecile Quade of Avenue, MD, Christine Marie Hutchinson and her husband, Lee of Salisbury, NC, Susan Ann Clarke of Lexington Park, MD and Catherine Louise Clements of Valley Lee, MD, one brother, Roger Combs of Lexington Park; two sisters, Leona Lucus of PA and Mary Hall and her husband of Callaway, MD; 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband, George; three sons, John, Charles and Joseph; two sisters, Julia Tyler and Irma Hayden and two brothers, Gilbert and Thomas Combs.

Her interment will be held at Charles Memorial Gardens and will follow the service.

Pallbearers are Lou Wedding, Nicholas Clarke, David Clarke, Jr., George Clarke, IV, Robert Clements, Jr. and Matthew Clements. Honorary pallbearers are  Robert Clements, Sr., Eric Tayman, Winky Quade, Jr. and Jimmy, Steven and Christopher Hutchinson.
