Barbara Ann (Kane) Cox

Barbara Ann Cox, 83, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away in Callaway, MD on June 29, 2022. Barbara was born on September 26, 1938 in Washington, DC to the late Dunaway and Cora Fewell Kane. She married Russel Cox and the couple moved to Southern Maryland in 1980. They were together for 52 years until his passing in 2008.

Barbara was described as a very hard worker. She was known to many Calvert residents as the bakery manager at the Giant Food in Prince Frederick. During her 30-year career with Giant, she also managed at the bakeries at the Greenbelt and Kettering stores. Barbara was also known for her appearance and for always taking care to look her best. She was meticulous about her clothing, hair and make-up and presented as polished and professional wherever she went.

Barbara is survived by her son, Russell (Deborah) Cox, Jr. of Owings, MD; daughters, Tina Marie Ogle of Mechanicsville, MD and Debra Ann (Ben, Sr.) Ogle of Owings, MD; six grandchildren, Ryan Cox, Marcus Nash, Michelle Hohstadt, Kathryn Fitzpatrick, Megan Ogle and Ben Ogle, Jr. and three great-grandchildren, Houston Hohstadt, Luke Fitzpatrick and Ellie Brotherton. In addition to her husband, Russell, Barbara was predeceased by her brother, Herbert Kane and sister Elaine Wood.
