Albert Harris Obituary

Albert Lawrence Harris, a beloved, husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother and friend, peacefully transitioned from this life on April 12, 2025 at the age of 83. Born on May 25, 1941, in the quiet beauty of Owings, MD, Albert was a man whose strength was matched only by his heart. He was the beloved son of Johnny Harris and Iona Wallace, but his grandparents, Phillip and Nettie Harris, lovingly raised him and helped shape the grounded, hardworking and kind man we all came to know and love.

Albert’s life was a testament to quiet strength and enduring love. He dedicated many years to working the land at Berry’s farm, where his hands met the earth with purpose. Later, he worked as a skilled mechanic at Ward’s Automotives, where his steady hands and sharp mind helped keep his community moving forward.

On April 10, 1967, Albert married the love of his life, Eleanora Stephney. They shared a deep bond built on faith, commitment and devotion. Although Elenora preceded him in death, along with is two beloved sisters-Elaine Wallace Porter and Joycelynn Wallace Casson-Albert carried their memories with him daily. Albert’s family extended beyond blood. He was a loving stepfather to Charlotte Galloway and a proud step-grandfather to Lonnie Broome, Jr, and Michael Gross. He poured his quiet affection and guidance into their lives, showing that family isn’t always defined by birth, but by love, care and presence.

Albert was a faithful member of Calvary United Church, where he found community, peace, and purpose. His presence there was a constant, strong, steady and humble, much like the man himself. Albert lived a life of integrity and simplicity. He didn’t need grand gestures to show his love-just a firm handshake, a warm smile, a helping hand, and a heart that never wavered. Whether fixing a neighbor’s truck or lending an ear to a friend in need, Albert made a quiet difference in the lives around him. Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate his legacy: a legacy of work, faith, family, and love. May we carry forward his quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and deep love for those close to him.

Albert is survived by his devoted stepdaughter, Charlotte Galloway, his loving step-grandchildren, Lonnie Broom, Jr, and Michael Gross and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends who will cherish his memory. Albert’s life was a quite testimony to loyalty, faithfulness and kindness. Though he never sought recognition, his impact was deeply felt, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Rest well, Albert. You have earned your peace.
