Dieter Gottfried Linder Sr., 80, of Washington D.C., passed away on August 6th, 2019 at The Burnett House in Prince Frederick, MD, after a long battle with cancer. Dieter was born in Karlsruhe, Germany on July 30th 1939. His family immigrated to the U.S. in 1957. He started his own electric utility company in 1978 and ran it successfully until his retirement in 2014, at age 75. He then moved from D.C. to MD, where he enjoyed spending time with his ever-growing family. Dieter enjoyed life to the fullest through simple pleasures like fishing, collecting/wearing stylish hats, Christmas, eating crabs, and walking his beloved dog, Capone. He attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church and was an avid supporter and donator to multiple religious and charitable causes. Dieter is preceded in death by both parents, Wilhelm and Elisabeth Linder, and his son, Dominic Linder. He is survived by four of his five sons, Patric (Sherry) Linder of Prince Frederick, MD; Kevin Linder of Lothian, MD; Chris (Mery) Linder of Round Hill, VA; and Dieter Linder Jr. of Arlington, VA, his brother Werner (Christa) Linder of Chevy Chase, MD, and his sister Doris Harris of Frederick, MD, and his cousin Anne Ewald of Germany. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Liam Linder; Dominic Linder; Nicole Simpson; Robert Hunley Jr.; Jacqueline Knowles; Victoria Linder, Donovan Linder and four great-grandchildren, Michaela Linder; Scarlett Knowles; Madalee and Elijah Hunley.
